Gugulethu Tshabalala is a seasoned research professional with over 13 years of experience in epidemiology, program evaluation, data collection, and counseling. Currently a Project Coordinator and Researcher at the Perinatal HIV Research Unit under the Wits Health Consortium, she leads initiatives focused on cancer prevention and early detection, including the IICANDO project, which evaluates the implementation of South African cancer management guidelines. Her extensive background includes supervising counselors, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, coordinating project operations, and supporting regulatory compliance. Previously, Gugulethu served as a counselor and social auxiliary worker, providing HIV prevention and adherence counseling for sero-discordant couples and facilitating community engagement. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and has consistently demonstrated her commitment to improving public health outcomes through innovative research and collaborative leadership.
